Jamies Route

Small change of route

This might be called an Editor's Blog!

As you can see from Jamie's progress he has arrived at Panama - originally estimated for 24th June  but actually reached on 26th May. You may also be aware that his sister is getting married in France on 27th June and Jamie is taking 10 days off to be at the wedding.

He obviously does not want to (or is not able to) stick around Panama for three weeks. He has therefore decided on a small route change.

His old route involved taking a boat from Panama to Cartagena in Colombia and then running to Medellin, Colombia a distance of some 640km as shown on this map.

His new route takes him closer to the Pan-American Highway route. He will run the remaining 285km of the Highway in Panama until it ends at Yaviza.  On his return from France he will somehow go from Panama to Turbo in Colombia and run to Medellin, a distance of 340km, as shown on this map.

Turbo is the closest he can get to the start of the South American section of the Pan-American highway. And all because of the Darien Gap!

Where would you like to go now?
